Ingleside Homes has lost an exceptional staff member: Debbie Dalecki, who served as the Resident Services Coordinator for the elderly. She was a strong advocate for the rights of the elderly, working with legislators, the State of Delaware, and peers to make sure that every senior resident received the benefits they were due. Many seniors were blessed to discover services through her work and dedication. Debbie worked, studied and trained tirelessly, and even gave up her salary in many cases to assist those less fortunate, and delivered exceptional care. While Ingleside is fortunate to have a team of exceptional resident services coordinators to take over her duties, we will always remember this special woman, her dedication, strength, and service to the low-income elderly in Delaware. Ingleside has established a fund to honor the memory of Ms. Dalecki. "The Debbie Dalecki Resident Services Fund," that will be dedicated to covering the gap between government subsidies and the amount needed to live with dignity in retirement.
We love seniors! Their wisdom is abundant and practical. In the article, "100 Pieces of Advice from 100-Year-Olds," they remind us: “Be lovable. I’ve lived a long life because there are so many people who love me,” and “Find a role model and aim to achieve even more than they could ever do.”
It's Giving Tuesday, so consider the seniors that have raised you and give generously to the Ingleside Homes Benevolence Fund.
Students from Tower Hill School came to Downs Cultural Center at Ingleside Homes to entertain our senior residents. The children sang favorite holiday songs and read stories with the seniors.
While visits from performers is always welcome, these young people showing their talents bring special joy to our community.
Thank you to all the students and the teachers that made this day so wonderful.
